20 Mile Mountain Bike Course

Starts: 10:00am

Check in begins at 8:30 AM at the Ascutney Trails Main Trailhead, 400 Ski Tow Rd, Brownsville VT.

Please check in no later than 9:30 AM to make sure you give yourself enough time to park, unload your bike and gear, stock up and do pre-ride prep before leaving at 10:00 AM.This new ride starts and finishes at Mt. Ascutney! Our partners at Sport Trails of Ascutney Basin (STAB) have designed a great course, which will be released on RIDE DAY ONLY. We receive one-day permits from private landowners and if people pre-ride the course, we risk losing their consent to use their property.  The nature of the ride is advanced, as it should take 2-5 hours for riders to complete with various technical aspects to the ride.

Terrain Type:

The ride is a cross-country ride of approximately 20 miles, with scenic dirt road sections connecting lots of technical, classic Vermont singletrack. We've picked a selection of challenging trails with steady elevation gains, so strong intermediate or advanced mountain bike skills and fitness are required to take on this route. Well-stocked aid stations and a couple of short flat stretches will give you a chance to rest and recharge between climbs

Cue Sheet and Map:

  • Will be made available on ride day only.

Rest Stops and Support:

2 fully stocked aid stations will be available on course with mechanics and water, Gatorade and other snacks. There will be options at each aid station to bail and get a ride back to the start.

Aid Station #1: Mile 6 Open 10:30am-1:00pm

Aid Station #2: Mile 12 Open 11:30am-2:00pm

The Green Mountain Bike Patrol will be on course to assist with various technical and medical needs should they arise.

Cutoff Times:

In order to best manage the ride, and to ensure riders can enjoy the post-ride party at the Harpoon Brewery, all riders must complete the course by 3:00pm. Please plan accordingly and adhere to the advice and support of our volunteers.
